EvaNeScence Live in Paris

25th May, 2007: Finally friday, the day of the week that I fantasize about the most! I’m even happier now that I know I’m going away from Paris to spend the week end at my auntie’s family in law in northern France. The weather is not great but I don’t care, I need to refresh the air I m breathing and free my mind from the nerve-racking issues I’ve been encountering lately.
My purse on one hand, and my travelling bag on the other, I headed to the bus then the subway, as a part of my daily routine ritual. Usually I close my eyes during the trip for a mini-nap when I’m not completely awake (which is 80% the case). Unlike every morning, I was well awake and even in a good mood, probably excited by the thought of my escape from Paris.
Since I’m not sleeping this time lol, I grabbed one of those free newspapers available in every corner of the station…when I’m not closing my eyes on the subway I hate having nothing to do or no one to talk to the trip just feels endless …There was nothing interesting to read until…I came across the “shows and concerts” section… Evanescence Live in Zénith of Paris tonight…hoooooooooly shit! Not again! :s last November the band was in Paris at the Olympia and I missed it because I didn’t get my ticket on time and because I was busy settling in Paris since I arrived on October. I was disgusted! My only chance to see my favourite band is now that I’m in France…for it’s not likely they’d perform in my homeland anytime soon lol I mean come on let’s face it :p
Oh hang on! Wait a sec! there’s another concert scheduled tomorrow 26th may ! If I’m lucky, there’s a chance not all tickets are sold out since there are two consecutive shows scheduled…
Once at work, I couldn’t focus…I had to go to FNAC find out…I looked for tickets online to have an idea about prices and availability…some tickets are sold at discounted prices on e-bay or posted by individuals who can’t attend the show. But by the time I get an answer and stuff it might be too late…I’m broke but I don’t care it’s just a matter of time…
I got in touch with my auntie on MSN to let her know I might not be coming this week end hoping she won’t be too disappointed…even though I was sure she’d be even happy for me for she knows how I love the band…at some point she could no longer stand Amy’s screams out loud in the house…and started to screaming herself : sorry yaya!

26th may, 2007: My morning training was over and I could finally go to FNAC…weird…they were tickets available for both shows…few seconds of that unavoidable doubt anytime I have to make a decision… Ok I’m going on Saturday…
I spent the rest of the day taking a glance at my ticket from time to time…cute hein?
Once at home, I tried to logged in few forums for Eva fans to see how people get organized to get there, when the waiting is gonna start and how long is it gonna take…after all I wanted to be at least on the first three rows…ok let’s say five :p

26th may, 2007: This is gonna be MY DAY. Thou shall not stress, thou shall kick all negative thoughts… today I’m gonna be happy and NOTHING else matters…
Once pampered I was ready to go…but before that I went to S’s and C’s hoping they’re home so that I can borrow their camera…both were there…and what the h…I’m taking both cameras with me! :D
Windy gray weather…hope it’s not gonna rain while waiting for hours…
Finally arrived at the last subway station…which way to go?…I don’t see any pierced and black-dressed young people yet :p I was staring at the neighbourhood map looking for the Zenith when a “black-dressed young guy” asked me if I was going to Eva’s concert and looking for the Zenith…he was waiting for his girlfriend…cute^^
I got out and wandered few seconds looking for a clue…hordes of people were going back and forth so no way to identify who’s going where…Three girls were looking at a map and discussing their way to the Zenith…I asked if I could join…
Two long queues of people were already there…what a nice crowd…the gothic-look dudes…the mad fans and their total evanescence look, the pierced buddies, the scary-looking babes, normal people but wearing black, and finally the normal humans lol
What about me? Well.. I guess I was the mad fan but normally-looking human being who wished she could express herself with more than a black shirt with gothic font style writing…
The queues were loosing their shapes as more and more people were coming…argg that drives me mad cause it’s not fair to be standing for hours , for an asshole to come and ruin it for you…
I guess I’ve been waiting for nearly 4 hours…my legs started to hurt. Thank god I met S, D and l…discussing and making jokes helps cope with the waiting..
I was craving for some water and I had to get rid of the thought of a pipi room…:D
Finally in! I could sneak in my two cameras which I hid in the sleeves of my sweatshirt…I’m thankful to a girl in the queue who warned me…
Front seats facing the stage were all already taken…the girls wanted to seat but I decided to go fight for a place standing in front of the stage…
Midway was the band covering the first part…they were already playing by the time we got inside…not bad at all…followed by endless minutes , required to set the stage
Here they are…starting with weight of the world…It felt weird to see the band and especially Amy performing few meters away part from me… It felt unreal actually…the only thing reminding me I was really there was the fact that I was afraid of loosing my hearing because I was too close J Amy was gorgeous and I kept looking at her with a dumb smile… I screamed, sang, waved my hands and arms, laughed at her jokes…the light effects were fabulous…the piano performances, Amy’s voice that sounded much better than in live recordings…but as all good things come to an end…the show was already over…it was short actually less than two hours…I was also disappointed cause I couldn’t take picture despite the two cameras I could sneak in…security guards were really tough! I could manage to snap few videos though…only phone cameras were allowed but the quality wasn’t worth it unless you had a real powerful phone with a strong resolution.
I felt weird right after the concert, I was flying on a purple cloud but sad that the delight was so short and already over…Anyway I saw my band and that meant a lot to me…
I was disappointed to find out later on that some fans managed to wait for the band at the backstage exit and take pictures with Amy and the band…grrrrrrrr
Ok that’s an objective to keep for the next Evanescence performance I m going to watch…;)
